Cuts and race equality strategy
A summary of campaigns, activities and strategy on cuts by the region in conjunction with the RBMC.
• Worth It (Fair pay Fortnight)
• Gies a Hoose Campaign (Sustainable & Affordable Housing)
• Mental Health in the Work Place
• International Women’s Day (Scotland 8th March) celebration
• Black recruitment in the Public Sector/Private Sector.

Recruiting and organising Black members
A summary of recruitment activities run by the region in conjunction with the RBMC.
• Young People initiative (Gies a Hoose) recruit young members to Unison
• Recruitment is strong – (Larger number leaving employment);
• Police (300 jobs at risk) 5 control centres to close (Dumfries & Galloway)
• Colleges & Universities Pay campaign - RPA signed at Napier Uni;
• NHS (Bill integrating Health & Social Care) no staffing framework –Staff Governance issues still problematic
Summary of general issues going on in the region:
• Trident (Faslane Nuclear Base) - Economy Pound? (potential bargaining)
• Independence Campaign;
• Pensions/ Equal Pay;
• Commonwealth Games;
• Scottish Living Wage.
• National Bargaining (FE votes in favour)
• Assisted Suicide (Bill Stage 1)
• Waiting Lists – Reshaping Care
The above issues and concerns are to be taken back to NBMC Ctte meeting being held in June by Scotland Regional Representatives to raise for discussion. Additional matters may arise and the above may be subject to change.
