Non Departmental Public Bodies

NAG is the campaign group that brings together UNISON’s 3000 members in the NDPB’s in Scotland. Our full title is the Non Departmental Public Bodies Aggregate Group so we’ll stick to NAG to save time and space!

Members are mainly based in the core branches; Skills Development Scotland, SEPA, Regulation of Care and Children’s Reporters but a significant number are based in large Local Authority branches. Our remit is to work to maintain and improve the terms and conditions of our members in a sector subject to constant change depending on the whim of the Scottish Government of the day.

In the past year we have lost over 10% of our colleagues through voluntary severance programmes with many more to come in the years ahead but our remaining members will still be expected to provide the highest quality of service to the public. The key role of NAG in the next few years will be to mobilise and organise our members to protect terms and conditions while ensuring that the service we provide to the public is not fatally compromised by ill-considered funding cuts.
