Stop Violence Against Women - Show Your Support in 3 Simple
Steps!
Dear Friends
The Women's Coalition - Scottish Women's Aid, Rape Crisis
Scotland , Engender, The Zero Tolerance Trust, The Women's
Support Project, its networks of stakeholder organisations
and individuals request of the new Scottish Government to
pledge its commitment to addressing violence against women
over the next four years.
Scotland has been at the forefront of developing innovative
work on violence against women from a gender-based analysis.
The last decade has seen a number of significant developments
in Scotland in relation to work to address violence against
women.
This has included the development of a domestic abuse strategy,
with related training and prevention strategies, and, more
recently, a broadening out of the focus to encompass the continuum
of violence against women to include rape, commercial sexual
exploitation and so called traditional practices.
You can actively support The Statement of Intent 2007 Campaign
by urging your MSPs to build on the considerable advances
made over the past 10 years to tackle the issue and to continue
to invest in the work necessary to make Scotland a safe, just
and equal society for women.

Coalition Statement of Intent 2007- That the Parliament affirms
its commitment to ending violence against women by endorsing
the Women's Coalition Statement of Intent 2007; calls on the

against women, which makes the link between domestic abuse,
rape and commercial sexual exploitation, and to continue provision
of funding to violence against women projects in order to
ensure the continuation of essential services to women and
children experiencing violence, and further calls on the Scottish
Government to continue to develop strategic work on violence
against women, guided by the multi-agency National Group to
Address Violence Against Women and enabled by the Violence
Against Women Team within the Equality Unit at the Scottish
