Services Workforce
UNISON is by far the largest union representing most
Social Work and Social Care staff in Scotland. We represent
Social Workers in all specialisms, residential workers,
social care workers, OTs, home care staff and professional,
admin and clerical support staff. We have a Social
Work Issues Group (SWIG) with reps from branches across
Scotland, specifically addressing Social Work issues.

- Standing up for social care Scotland’s Social Work Issues Group
(SWIG) has taken a key role in highlighting the issues
which face our members in social work and social care
and in moving social care up the political agenda both
in Scotland and across the UK.
Safeguarding
children (08/12/08) Lord Laming has asked UNISON
to submit evidence to the inquiry into child protection
systems. As part of its response, UNISON has launched
a survey asking what it is like working in children’s
social care services.
