UNISON comments on pay freeze in Culture and Sport Glasgow

The main union representing local government and Culture and Sport Glasgow staff has condemned the body’s unilateral breach of its commitments to staff.

Mike Kirby, Scottish Convenor of UNISON, the largest public service union and Chair of its Glasgow City Branch said:

“This is a classic example of the lack of accountability that comes when a trust is created. Tearing up staff conditions and negotiating rights – despite their commitments at the time they were established, is obviously now a more attractive option for the councillors on the Trust Board than admitting that the promises of extra private funding a trust could attract, were empty ones. UNISON will not accept this breach of contract and will take whatever steps needed to defend staff conditions and pay.”
