PUBLIC SERVICE TEAM OF THE YEAR

This year’s Herald Society Public Service Team Award has been won by the RIE’s Ward 202 multi disciplinary team.

The Outstanding Public Service Team of the Year award, sponsored by UNISON Scotland, seeks to recognise a team, department or partnership whose public service values, outstanding drive and commitment have made a difference in improving the lives of people in Scotland.

The award was given to the W202 team for their creative approach to acute care for the elderly using ‘lean management’ techniques to rethink the way it operated. By rethinking roles and redesigning the ward itself, they achieved impressive results, including allowing nursing staff to increase the time spent on direct care to patients by 43%.
