UNISON Scotland Social Work Issues Group FRINGE
MEETING

Government Conference Delegates are invited to meet members of the
Scottish Social Work Issues Group (SWIG) to hear reports on the
work of the Group over the past year.
This will also be an opportunity for colleagues in
Social Work across the UK to share experiences and discuss how to
continue to enhance UNISON's Social Work agenda.
Asylum Seeker Children
Kate Ramsden and John Stevenson Co-authors
of "Asylum in Scotland - child's welfare paramount?" A guide for
members published by UNISON Scotland and BASW. They will also update
on other SWIG initiatives regarding asylum and immigration.
 Direct
Payments
Stephen Smellie, Chair of SWIG will report
on the work with disabled people's organisations on a joint statement
on direct payments and research into the needs of P.A.s
Tea and coffee will be served.
